July 31, 2004
On the 31st of July we went together to the old Russian town Uglich. While we were going we decided to look at another sight of Russia in the town Kalyazin with unusual history. There is the church standing on the water. It was very interesting to know about it and to take picture of it. In Uglich we visited Kremlin. We came in to the Uspensky Cathedral and listened to the excurtion about the history of building the cathedral and the history of ancient frescos, icons. Then clergymen were performing in front of us. They sang some little musical creations. Then we visited an old refectory and could see the place where the son of the tzar Ivan the Terrible Dmitriy was killed and also a huge bell without tongue which was raised the alarm when the trouble happened. We knew that bells meant a lot for russian people and it was great disgrace when the tongue of the bell was teared away. We saw merchant stuff, weapons, tableware of 18th centure, the time of great reforms in the duke's room. Then we went to Myeshkin, ancient Russian town of masters. It was interesting to watch a process of making pots, the process of forging etc. Tasha created a pot by her own hands. Then after buying some souvenirs we all merry and glad returned home.
