The joint Russian - American subbotnik on the 19th of July in Dubna was very resultative. Our children together with six American guests from our sister-city of La Crosse gathered 70 bags of wrappers, packets, jars, tins and bottles thrown away by some, residents of Dubna in the places of their rest.

The subbotnik took place on the territory not far from the former monument to Stalin and near the Bolshaya Volga lake. About 30 teenagers from Dubna joined the group (alas, not so many local residents came to take part in the subbotnik). Meter after meter they cleaned the territory. What not was there under some bushes! It's a shame that Americans had to see all the garbage and still more shameful that they had to clean it. Is it so difficult to take one's own garbage after the rest and take it to the special place?

The children will not forget that day. Neither will they forget it when after their work they settled down on the lawn and heated themselves to the tasty things they had bought for themselves and their friends - huge pizzas, pan-cakes, fried hens after the friendly lunch they played ball, had fun and enjoy their time playing in the water.
