Polis Lyceum is in the spotlight of the Dubna-La Crosse Friendship Association

In 1992, a cozy family-type private school sprang up in Dubna, Moscow Region. It was Polis Lyceum which in Grech means city-school.
The children of the age of 18 months up to 15 years old are welcome at our school. Together with talented, creative and inspired teachers the pupils make first steps into the great world of knowledge, learning to seek truth, plunging into the unexplored. The teachers help the children to master reading, writing and counting skills to acquire the ABC of computer technology, to comprehend the grand world of art, creativity and physical perfection, to properly identify themselves.
The teachers take good care of every child as our motto is: Each of us is unique and wonder is in each of us.
In 2003, Bill Trussoni, the leader of the Dubna -La Crosse Cultural student exchange program was invited to the meeting (round-table discussion), where the questions of upbringing of todays children, indigo-children were discussed.
(The participants were E.Aleksandrov, V.Fefelov, G.Ososkov, N.Ivanova, T.Kucherenko, L.Gvozdeva & the staff.)
Bill was astounded by the Russian teachers selflessness, their devotion to school, to hard and exhausting labour. He was also impressed by the pupils.
They are special, so wonderful, so gifted, he said.
We have been developing our friendship since then. Whenever Bill comes to Dubna he visits the school, to have a chat with pupils and the staff. He often brings presents and gifts collected by La Crosse citizens, he eagerly takes part in the school activities and invites the students to participate in the exchange program activities.
We have got much in common. We love our World, our Planet and the people on it. We take care of everything that around us, we wish to live a good life and enjoy it. Thats why we worked together picking up garbage round the city rested together making Russian pies and telling our friends about Russian cultural traditions. La Crosse students and Bill Trussoni were the participants of the Dubna-La Crosse press-conference, traditional school holidays.
In 2009, La Crosse citizens collected money for school repair. Students from the exchange program with great inspiration and pleasure prepared the school for the future repair. After the work they enjoyed Tea ceremony with Russian samovar.
During this action many Russian sponsors and assistants joined us, putting in resources and labour without compensation (a strong wall appeared between the classes, a new floor and lamps, decorated balconies, a new signboard, new equipment, a new massage table and a new sport-complex, etc.)
The school staff organized a recreation-party for those who help us a lot, who take our problems close to heart, who support and share our attempts to provide good care to the children.
Members of the Dubna-La Crosse Friendship Association, the Optimist club, teachers and parents, school-founders and city administrators attended the meeting.
The main topic of the meeting was love and friendship, relationship and understanding between people of different countries. The guests gave their presents to the school. An unforgettable wave of friendship was spreading among those present, embracing us all. No wonder that the meeting was held under the slogan The Planet of Good.
The school had been repaired by August, 2009.
The city deputy-mayor Y. Komendantov, who signed the documents, confirming the school being ready for the educational process, was greatly impressed by the volume and quality of work done for such a short time. Signing the document on August 5, 2009 the depity-may appreciated the work and gave the top grade for the result.
The Dubna-La Crosse activities and our relationship helped the school make a lot more friends.
On September 1, as if under a spell, the school children entered nicely repaired classrooms. On the first school-day we showed the children the film how we enjoyed working together on repairing the school, it wasnt an easy task though.
Thanks to the new bought equipment since August of this year once a month we have been showing films for children and adults, films about persons striving for self perfection, peace and happiness. Very often we watch American films (Little princess, Trumans show).
You are welcome, when in Dubna! We thank all the people of La Crosse for assistance and we believe that our friendship will develop futher and give all the people hope for pence and trangullity of the souls.
We all believe that only true, love and friendship can save the world.
Our planet is the Planet of Good and the ocean that separates us isnt the bavier for our true and long lusting friendship.

With love and gratitude!

Director of Polis-luceum Ludmila Gvozdeva .
